We had a blast and out of all of the events we’ve been to on the east coast, Milltown was probably the largest we’ve attended. We are honored to bring you Miss Lindsey Creepshow, Miss Violette Mayfaire and Miss Deluxe Griffin who all won titles during the pinup contest who gave us insight into their lives, the world of pinup modeling and about winning their Mz. Milltown titles!

Lindsey Creepshow Mz Milltown 2010

What inspired you to enter the world of pinup?
I love how excepting the pinup world is. It’s a world where you are not discriminated by weight/size/,tattoos,height and etc.

Who are your pinup heros past and present?
Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Bernie Dexter, and Doris Mayday-a classic beauty with killer curves!

What photographers have you worked with and which would you like to work in the future and why?
Ive Worked with Casey Staskawicz of Nyctophoto, Angie Chambers of Angie Chambers Design, Shane Tenznar of Kitschcake Photography (the awesome thing about shooting with Shane is that we both kinda started out together I grew as a new coming pinup as he grew as a new coming pinup photographer). Ive also had the pleasure of working with the awesome Mr. Roy Varga for winning Mz Milltown, who I’d definitely work with again. I’d Love to work with Viva Von Story in the future, she captures women so beautifully (and sexilly!) her work is amazing.

What advice would you give to aspiring pinup models?
Don’t be afraid of showing your own individuality its what makes you, you. Be confident and don’t worry what others will think.

When did you start immersing yourself into the rockabilly scene and what attracted you to it?
I have a love for many types of music such as Punk, Rockabilly, and Psychobilly. I used to be merch girl for the band ‘Creepin Cadavers’ (psychobilly), I met a lot of awesome people and musicians from merching and embraced the culture very easily. I love how music can bring people together. I also think the replaying of John Waters’ “Cry-Baby” on Saturday afternoons growing up had something to do with it too. ::wink::

When not posing in front of the camera, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare I co run a cake business on the side with Ina Infirmary (of CMRD) called ‘Corpse Cakes’. We both share a passion for baking/creepy confectionery along with crafting. We have a website www.corpsecakes.com and an upcoming Esty shop. Music is a big part of my life, i try to make it to live music shows as much as i can. I also enjoy pending time with the ones I love. I have an amazing group of friends and family in my life.

Who inspires you?
My late Aunt Bea is a huge inspiration in my life. She was a spunky, stylish and beautiful individual inside and out. I’m proud i get to wear her vintage jewelry! I also have amazingly talented friends and family who inspire me with their creativity, art and music. Women who work their tooshies off to get what they want in life inspires me too.

What do you look forward to in the future in being Mz Milltown 2010?
I look forward to car shows and celebrating the culture with the followers. You meet really awesome, and talented people at them. I’d really love to learn how to pinstripe, maybe I can meet someone that would be willing to teach me!?

Any words of advice for future Mz Milltowns?
Be yourself, have fun, smile, and don’t let criticism get the best of you.

Violette Mayfaire Mz Milltown 2010 Runner Up

What inspired you to enter the world of pinup?
I’ve always admired the art of pinup but never saw myself as a model. My mother is a model so I’ve been around it my whole life. Through the encouragement of my friends and family I’ve tried pinup and have felt a strong connection to the art form. I enjoy it more and more with each project, it’s like it was meant to be.

Who are your pinup heros past and present?
The biggest inspirations for my pinup are Cyd Charisse, Gil Elvgren, Jayne Mansfield, John Waters, Christian Dior, Grace Kelly, Annette Funicello, Lorrie Collins and Dolly Parton.

What photographers have you worked with and which would you like to work in the future and why?
The photographers I’ve had the most recent pleasure to work with are Hot Rod Chrissie, Alexander Thompson, Stephanie Adamo and Tal Gur. I’m always looking for new photographers to collaborate with. I would love to do a shoot with anyone who shares the same aesthetics as I do.

What advice would you give to aspiring pinup models?
Be genuine to yourself and follow your gut, it will always lead you down the right path.

When did you start immersing yourself into the rockabilly scene and what attracted you to it?
I don’t consider Rockabilly as culture, I think of it as a form of music. Since I was a little girl I grew up on the music of Sun Records. I enjoy vintage aesthetics and clothing. My mother is an antique collector and I’ve been collecting vintage hats since I was a young girl. For me pinup and rockabilly are the natural progression of combining all of my loves from my youth and the lifestyle I live now.

When not posing in front of the camera, what do you like to do in your spare time?
When I’m not in front of the camera I’ve started learning new musical instruments and generally making a lot of noise! I also enjoy concerts, antiquing, road trips, working on various art projects, sewing and being a BBQ coinsure.

Who inspires you?
My family has always been biggest inspiration. My mom’s sense of style and my fathers business savvy have always inspired my to achieve any goal I’ve set my mind to.

What do you look forward to in the future in being the runner-up of Milltown 2010?
As runner-up at Milltown this year I can’t wait to return next year. I had a wonderful time and met some amazing people. I really hope to bring more attention to the show by letting the rest of these city-folk know what a great experience Milltown is.

What are some things that people don’t know about you?
In preschool I was voted best dressed, which is funny because in preschool I couldn’t dress myself.

I have been interested in pinup my whole life.  I am a stylist and photographer, and often reference everything pinup to draw inspiration for my work and lifestyle.

Who are your pinup heros past and present?
Of course I love Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe, but I also love Bunny Yeager as a model and photographer, and Maria Stinger.  Present inspiration comes from Micheline Pitt, Sabina Kelley, Bernie Dexter, and Dayna Delux.  Other past inspirations from Sophia Loren and any Bond girl!

What photographers have you worked with and which would you like to work in the future and why?
I have been lucky to work with Lesley Arak and Cindy Parker.  I enjoy women being in charge of what goes on in front of and behind the camera. I would like to work with any photographer in the future as long as it is a classy and professional setting.

What advice would you give to aspiring pinup models?
To aspiring pinup models, I would advise to not give up.  There are a lot of beauties out there and modeling can be very intimidating.  Just be yourself and never compromise your integrity.  You can do anything you set your mind to!

When did you start immersing yourself into the rockabilly scene and what attracted you to it?
I have been going to shows for many years now, and I enjoy all types of music.  I enjoy any scene that promotes positive energy with proactive people.  Any scene is what you put into it.  Little to no drama allowed.  Jealousy and being unkind unwelcome.  No haters!  Positive Mental Attitude!!!

When not posing in front of the camera, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I have my own salon/studio so I work quite a bit.  In my downtime I enjoy live music, car shows, getting tattooed, working out, and going anywhere I can dance!

Who inspires you?
I come from a very long line of powerful, independent women.  I would have to say my grandmother and my mother, for their courage and strengh. I am also inspired by any woman who makes her own decisions, and walks her own path.  Women with integrity and confidence, who are edgy, yet sensitive.

What do you look forward to in the future in being the fan favorite of Milltown 2010?
As fan favorite of Milltown 2010, I look forward to networking in the industry as a whole.  I enjoyed meeting a lot of excellent people at Milltown this year, and I hope to meet many more!  Perhaps some more photo shoots, who knows, maybe I will even do another calendar….the future is unwritten!
